😩 If you’ve tried all of these and you’re still bl

😩 If you’ve tried all of these and you’re still bloated and constipated, it may be time to stop adding more symptom-management tools and start asking why your digestion is struggling in the first place.

🦠 Probiotics, fiber, elimination diets, digestive enzymes, and low-FODMAP can all be helpful. But when symptoms keep coming back, we often look deeper at things like:

🔎 SIBO or intestinal dysbiosis
🔎 Impaired gut motility
🔎 Histamine and mast-cell activity
🔎 Nutrient deficiencies
🔎 Thyroid and hormonal function
🔎 Mold or environmental exposures
🔎 Chronic infections or immune activation
🔎 Nervous-system dysregulation
🔎 Digestion, bile flow, and overall GI function

🧩 And often, there is more than one factor contributing at the same time.

📝 That’s why we look at the full picture: your symptoms, health history, nutrition, environment, and when appropriate, functional testing.

💡 You may not need to try harder. You may need to look deeper.

💚 If you’re tired of cycling through diets, supplements, and protocols without lasting relief, book a complimentary discovery call with our team. We’ll help you start connecting the dots and figure out what may actually be driving your symptoms.

🦠 If you have gut issues AND histamine symptoms, the answer isn’t always to keep taking more foods away.

⚠️ In fact, one of the most common things I see is someone who has already removed gluten, dairy, fermented foods, leftovers, high-histamine foods, maybe FODMAPs…and they’re STILL bloated, constipated and reacting to foods.

🤔 That’s when I want to ask a different question:

🔎 Why has your gut become so reactive in the first place?

🌿 Yes, lowering your histamine load can be incredibly helpful while we’re calming things down.

🍽️ But I’m also looking at:

→ Are you eating enough?
→ Are you getting enough protein + carbohydrates?
→ Are you actually pooping regularly?
→ Is slow motility contributing?
→ Could dysbiosis, inflammation or infection be part of the picture?
→ Are medications, supplements, alcohol or other factors adding to your overall histamine load?

🧪 And depending on the person, this is where targeted testing can sometimes help us stop guessing.

🤍 Because the goal isn’t to give you an even longer list of foods you “can’t” eat.

✨ The goal is to figure out what’s driving the reactivity so we can work toward better digestion, fewer symptoms + MORE food tolerance over time.

🌱 This overlap between gut dysfunction + histamine symptoms is something our integrative dietitian team works with all the time.

🚫 If you feel like you’re reacting to everything and your diet keeps getting smaller, you may need a different approach—not another elimination diet.

Your poop can tell us A LOT about what’s happening

Your poop can tell us A LOT about what’s happening in your gut 👀

💩 Hard, pellet-like stools? We may be thinking about slow motility, hydration, fiber intake + constipation.

💩 Loose or watery stools? We’re looking at transit time, food triggers, stress, medications/supplements, infection + inflammation.

💩 Greasy, oily or consistently floating? It may be worth looking at how well you’re digesting + absorbing fat.

💩 Lots of mucus? A little can be normal, but regularly seeing it—especially alongside other GI symptoms—can be a reason to investigate further.

💩 Undigested food? Some visible plant material is completely normal, but if it’s happening frequently alongside bloating, diarrhea or other symptoms, we want to look at the bigger picture.

The important part: **your poop isn’t a diagnosis. It’s a clue.**

And if your bowel movements consistently look “off,” simply adding more fiber or taking another probiotic may not address WHY it’s happening.

Depending on the pattern, we may look deeper at things like:
→ gut motility
→ digestion + absorption
→ diet + food triggers
→ inflammation
→ infection or dysbiosis
→ medications + supplements
→ and, when appropriate, functional testing

The goal isn’t just to make your poop look better.

**It’s to understand what’s driving the change in the first place.**

🚨 And remember: black/tarry stool, obvious blood, or persistently pale/clay-colored stool should be medically evaluated rather than assumed to be “gut imbalance.”

If your gut has been giving you clues and you’re ready to figure out WHY, our integrative dietitian team works with complex GI cases every day. 🤍

🪣 If you have histamine intolerance, I care WAY more about WHY your histamine bucket is overflowing than how many tomatoes you ate.

🥗 A low-histamine diet can be incredibly helpful for lowering symptoms, but I don’t want my clients living on an increasingly tiny list of “safe” foods forever.

🤔 I want to know why your tolerance changed in the first place.

A few places I’m looking:
🦠 Gut dysbiosis: your microbiome can influence histamine production + degradation.
🧬 DAO capacity + gut health: DAO is one of the major enzymes responsible for breaking down dietary histamine, and much of that activity occurs in the intestinal lining.
🌸 Hormones: histamine symptoms can fluctuate with the menstrual cycle, and estrogen + mast-cell activity can interact.
🚽 Constipation + motility: if you’re not moving things through efficiently, I want to understand WHY, and what the gut environment looks like.
💊 Nutrient status: B6, copper, vitamin C + overall nutritional adequacy can matter in histamine metabolism.
🌡️ Your total histamine/mast-cell “bucket”: food is only one input. Stress, illness, alcohol, heat, medications + environmental exposures can all matter depending on the person.

🥑 So yes, sometimes we temporarily pull back on avocado, tomatoes, fermented foods + three-day-old leftovers.

💡 But the goal isn’t to become better at avoiding food.

💩 Going every day does NOT automatically mean your

💩 Going every day does NOT automatically mean your motility is great.

When a client tells me, “I’m not constipated, I go every day,” I still want to know:
🚽 Do you actually feel empty afterward?
🤏 Is it a substantial bowel movement or a tiny amount?
😣 Are you straining?
🪨 Is your stool hard, dry, or pellet-like?
☕ Do you need coffee, magnesium, or other support to go?
🎈 Are you bloated or uncomfortable despite going?
✈️ Does everything fall apart when you travel or your routine changes?

And then I want to know WHY.

🧠 I’m thinking about things like methane overgrowth, slow motility, pelvic floor function, thyroid, medications/supplements, hydration, whether you’re eating enough, fiber intake, and sometimes whether you’re actually getting too MUCH fiber for what’s going on.

📅 Because constipation isn’t just “How many times did you poop this week?”

✅ Frequency + stool consistency + ease + complete evacuation ALL matter.

💡 And if we have to keep throwing things at you to make you poop, I want to figure out why your body isn’t doing it well on its own.
