Tonight I had the wonderful opportunity to visit my alma matter, Kent School in Kent, CT for a second time to talk with students about why it’s important to fuel your body with the right nutrients. My first visit, during which I spoke with most of the student body (about 400-500 students), was focused on general healthy eating and healthy meal planning. During tonight’s talk we spoke about sports nutrition- a topic that I think is so very important- especially for young, rising athletes; I was so excited to have athletes from the cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, hockey, and baseball teams amongst others.

We dispelled nutrition myths about carb loading, protein & muscle, fluids & hydration, eating before exercise, and talked about nutrient needs for athletes, picking the best protein, fueling pre and post exercise- and avoiding artificial ingredients, sugars and chemicals in sports nutrition products. The athletes were so engaged and I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with them for the second time, and hopefully with more exciting nutrition & wellness talks to come!
