You’re not paying for another meal plan. 👀 🍽️ One

You’re not paying for another meal plan. 👀

🍽️ One of the biggest misconceptions about working with a dietitian is that we’re simply here to tell you what to eat.

🌿 And while nutrition recommendations are absolutely part of what we do, at Isabel Smith Nutrition & Wellness, our work goes much deeper.

🔍 We’re looking at your medical history, symptoms, labs, medications, nutritional status, lifestyle, and how different aspects of your health may intersect.

🩺 We work with patients navigating everything from complex GI disorders, histamine intolerance, MCAS, and chronic illness to hormonal concerns, metabolic health, pediatrics, and preventive wellness.

🧩 Sometimes we’re helping someone who has spent years trying to understand complicated symptoms.

✨ Other times, we’re helping someone optimize their nutrition, feel better, and take a proactive approach to their health.

🤝 The common denominator? Individualized care.

🧪 We believe in thoughtful clinical assessment, evidence-informed integrative nutrition, appropriate testing, and collaboration with your medical team.

🌱 And we believe your nutrition plan should evolve as you do.

💫 This is what concierge integrative nutrition looks like.

💛 If you’ve been looking for a more personalized approach to your health, we’d love to work with you.

I’m an integrative dietitian. Of course I…

💩 Ask about your bowel movements, want to see every lab you’ve had in the last five years, and have approximately 17 follow-up questions before we even get to what you’re eating.

💡 But that’s also what I love about this work.

🩺 After 13 years in practice, I’ve learned that some of the most important clinical clues come from the questions nobody thought to ask.

🌱 Sometimes the answer isn’t another supplement, elimination diet, or test. It might be eating enough, sleeping better, or looking at something everyone else overlooked.

👇 Fellow dietitians, what would you add? And patients, which one sounds like your RD?

🦠 SIBO recurrence isn’t always about the bacteria.

🦠 SIBO recurrence isn’t always about the bacteria.

🔎 When symptoms return, it’s important to consider whether underlying contributors have been addressed.

💡 These may include impaired gut motility, chronic constipation, certain medications, structural abnormalities, or other digestive conditions.

⚠️ But recurrent bloating doesn’t automatically mean recurrent SIBO. Similar symptoms can have several different causes, making reassessment an important part of care.

🩺 At ISN, we look beyond isolated symptoms and test results to better understand the factors influencing your digestive health.

💬 Dealing with persistent or recurring digestive symptoms? DM us — we’d love to help!

10 easy, balanced, low-histamine snacks for kids A

10 easy, balanced, low-histamine snacks for kids AND adults! 🫐

🥣 Because eating low histamine shouldn’t mean surviving on plain rice cakes and the same three foods every day.

🍎 Here are 10 combinations to add to your rotation:

1️⃣ Apple + sunflower butter + hemp hearts

2️⃣ Fresh turkey + cucumber + GF crackers

3️⃣ Pear + pumpkin seed butter + rice cakes

4️⃣ Blueberries + coconut cream + chia

5️⃣ Chicken + roasted sweet potato bites

6️⃣ Apple + coconut milk chia pudding

7️⃣ Cucumber + homemade white bean dip

8️⃣ Peach + pumpkin seeds + coconut flakes

9️⃣ Mini chicken + zucchini patties

🔟 Buckwheat crackers + sunflower butter + blueberries

💡 A few things I want you to know about low-histamine eating:

🌿 Freshness and storage matter, especially with animal proteins.

🫶 Individual tolerance varies. White beans, seeds, and other ingredients may not work for everyone.

⚖️ Aim for carbohydrates paired with protein and/or healthy fats.

🌈 The goal is to maintain food variety, not stay on a highly restrictive diet indefinitely.

📌 And remember, there isn’t one universally accepted low-histamine food list. These are ideas to individualize, not foods guaranteed to be tolerated by everyone.

💚 At ISN, we work with kids and adults navigating histamine intolerance, MCAS, and complicated digestive concerns.

🔖 SAVE this for the next time you have no idea what to eat!

🤕 Your child keeps complaining of stomachaches. What should you actually do?

Before removing gluten, dairy, or other foods, 🔎 there are a few things parents should investigate.

👩‍⚕️ As pediatric dietitians, we look beyond what a child ate before their stomach started hurting.

A few things you can start doing today:
💩 Pay attention to stool consistency, not just frequency.
🍱 Check whether your child is actually eating lunch at school.
📝 Track when symptoms occur and whether they relate to meals or bowel movements.
💛 Ask about school, stress, and changes in routine.
🩺 Monitor persistent symptoms and discuss concerning changes with your pediatrician.

🚫 One thing we don’t recommend? Immediately putting a child on a restrictive elimination diet without understanding what’s going on.

👩‍👧 Our pediatric dietitian, Taylor, works with children and families navigating GI symptoms, food sensitivities, and complex nutrition concerns.

🔴 7 things I’ll NEVER do as an Integrative Dietiti

🔴 7 things I’ll NEVER do as an Integrative Dietitian

💬 After 13 years in practice, there are a few things I feel strongly about.

1. Treat lab results instead of people.
2. Put everyone on restrictive elimination diets.
3. Assume every symptom starts in the gut.
4. Recommend supplements without considering medical history.
5. Dismiss symptoms because routine labs look normal.
6. Order unnecessary testing.
7. Recommend intermittent fasting indiscriminately, especially to women or those with chronic illness or inadequate nourishment.

😔 So many patients have already tried EVERYTHING.

💊 More supplements. 🧪 More testing. 🚫 More restrictions.

💚 Integrative nutrition isn’t about doing more. It’s about knowing what to do, what NOT to do, and when to change direction.

🌿 Sometimes, the best recommendation is doing LESS.

👇 Which one surprised you most?
