Green Detox Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 medium apple cored and chopped
- 2 stalks celery roughly chopped
- 1 small cucumber peeled if desired and chopped
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/2 ripe avocado peeled and pitted
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3-4 leaves kale stems removed and roughly chopped
- 3-4 leaves fresh parsley
- 20 oz about 2 1/2 cups water
Instructions
- Thoroughly wash all produce under cool running water.
- Prepare the ingredients: Core and chop the apple into small pieces.
- Roughly chop the celery stalks. Peel the cucumber if desired, then chop it into chunks.
- Remove stems from kale leaves and roughly chop.
- Separate parsley leaves from stems.
- Add all prepared ingredients to a high-powered blender in the following order: water, celery, cucumber, apple, kale, parsley, avocado, chia seeds, olive oil
- Secure the blender lid tightly.
- Start blending on low speed for about 30 seconds to break down the ingredients.
- Gradually increase the speed to high and blend for 1-2 minutes until the smoothie is creamy and all ingredients are well combined.
- If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more water and blend briefly.
- Taste and adjust if needed (e.g., add more water for a thinner consistency or a squeeze of lemon for extra tang).
- Pour the smoothie into two large glasses.
